Biography 
Simone Arrigoni (Rome - Italy, 1973) is a classical pianist, multiple Freediving World Record holder, and an awards-winning photographer with:
Fascinated by the opportunity to immortalize the beauty of Nature in his shots, Arrigoni has created two photographic projects, InvEarth and STARt, in which he interprets emblematic elements from the Earth or the starry sky with an original artistic key, playing with the black & white dichotomy or painting coloured astrophotographies. In his series, Arrigoni turns natural objects into artistic images, shaping a point of convergence between science and creativity, so that the intrinsic beauty of Nature becomes Art. The “InvEarth” project’s series, devoted to our planet, have been featured in prestigious exhibitions worldwide, and earned him the titles of Italian Photography Ambassador in China and Underwater Photography Festival Ambassador. “STARt. Look beyond” was exhibited in Singapore as 1st Prize winner in the NTU International Photography Awards 2017 competition “Art, Science and the Image”, organized by the Nanyang Technological University and National Geographic. Arrigoni never stopped looking for artistic means of expression, even when everything seemed lost. He grew up studying Piano at the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome and under the guidance of Maestro Willy Brezza. Soon after earning a Piano Diploma with highest honours as a young promise of classical concertism, two sudden events changed his life: his brilliant pianist career was stopped by a wrist injury due to a violent frontal impact with a stolen car, and just few months later, his 17 years-old cousin Stefano tragically lost his life at sea. One of his cousin’s dreams was to establish a Freediving World Record, thus Arrigoni promised to set it in his memory and started agonistic training. He has been keeping this important promise since 2003, setting 21 Freediving World Records in the sea, lake, under the ice and together with dolphins (a long series of performances that has gained to him an international mediatic visibility). During the interminable rehabilitation from a very serious disease that almost killed him in the Summer of 2020, Arrigoni has dedicated all of himself to the realization of Resonance: a new photographic project that combines his three greatest passions (music, freediving and photography). In his search for a meeting point between art and science, Arrigoni uses the phenomenon of Cymatics to make visible the sounds coming both from Earth and the Universe, aiming at impressing into his shots the invisible symphony of reality. He is engaged in many voluntary activities for disabled and needy people (ActionAid Ambassador), marine protection (Honorary Member of the Center for Cetacean Studies), safety at sea education, and scientific research (Sapienza University of Rome biology research project focused on comparative physiology of humans and dolphins).
