Plastic legacy When I saw a plastic doll - like a lifeless newborn - abandoned on top of a pile of urban waste, I thought it was a perfect subject to represent the "ecological legacy" we are irresponsably producing for our children. Non-biodegradable waste can last for centuries and cause severe environmental problems that will increasingly affect the entire life on Earth. Among the most common substances that nature cannot decompose are the components of plastic: a versatile and cheap material that has been widely produced in recent decades, without paying due attention to the problem of disposal. If we fail to take serious, rapid and global measures on this issue, we will leave to next generations a planet choked on plastic
